She’s a d-a-a-a-y-tripper….

Tonight I started researching my Lonely Planet, Trip Advisor and Hostel Bookers to figure out some places to go in April. I decided at least one coastal destination would be perfect considering how Perugia (and Umbria) are land-locked. I’ve decided I’ll take a trip to Puglia with its beautiful, rugged coast and beaches. There’s a little town recommended by Lonely Planet called Vieste. It’s got easy day trips to a near by island, surrounding towns etc…should be lovely and I hope and pray for good weather when I go! Its not too busy in April either, tourist-wise.

Sunny update

Amazing day today!! Not a cloud in the sky. At 2pm we picnicked in a park that has an amazing view over the valley and over to the mountains and it was so clear and perfect. Stunning. When we lost the sun at around 3pm we walked to the steps and sat there til about 5 when we lost the sun again! It was so nice and relaxed.

Dan called just a little while ago. He’s having an amazing time. He’s still working a lot (as always) but is also doing other amazing things. Like jamming with Katie Noonan’s brother. OMGWTF. Ridiculous.

I booked my plane ticket home yesterday. It’s real that I have to leave, now. But its still over four months away and these four months are going to be incredible. I can just feel it. Well, if the last 2 months are anything to go by, anyway!

Une Passante

Tonight 5 of us (Ed, Jeff, Francesca, Charlotte and I) ate at Pizza e Musica and then went to Loop because Saturday nights they always have live music. Saw a lovely band called Une Passante (French for “A passser-by”). They have a female lead vocalist who also plays guitar, a lead guitarist  who does back up vocals, double bassist/back up vocals and a drummer. All of them played the box accordion at least once except for the percussionist. They play quiet, quirky, slightly folky music.  They’re Italian but unfortunately really only do English songs (and a bit of French as well), which was a bit disappointing. We always enjoy deciphering Italian lyrics! One of my friends was particularly perturbed by her accent, especially when it came to the “th” sound. I just thought it was a bit cute. It’s not like our accents are much better when we speak Italian! But their music was great. Bands with double basses are usually winners!

Snow!

It is snowing like CRAZY today! All of Perugia is covered in a half foot layer of snow. I just got back from a snow ball fight in the Piazza…..my hands got sooooo cold! I don’t have proper snowball fight gloves. Oh well. Now I’m drinking hot chocolate at La Tana dell’Orso.

Mmmmexican

Mexican was a success!! We ended up with about 16 or so people. We had more than enough to eat, ran out of liquor at exactly the right time (ie as we were leaving to go to the next party) and everyone looooved the food! Win. Also we could have easily fit another 6 or 7 people in the house. Good to keep in mind for next time. So after everyone had had enough tacos and coronas we headed to Sandra and Laura’s “Alcohol Party” around 10.30.

new years eve!

hurrah!

Someone got lazy…

Just an apology for the lack of updates! The travelling kind of sped up and there was no time to upload photos etc. I have been taking notes so this will be completed.

A quick overview of the last little while:

Went back to Paris for 3 days.

Skied for a couple of days in Innsbruck, Austria.

Hung out in Munich with Moritz for a day or two.

Flew from Frankfurt to Bangkok the 5th December.

Met Mum and Dad in Bangkok.

Got major culture shock and jet lag on arriving in Thailand.

Travelled across the Thai border into Laos.

Trekked to a Laotian tribal village in Luang Num Tha.

Travelled to Luang Prabang - Sightseeing, night markets, lots of monks and temples.

Currently in Vang Vieng - Rode an inner tube 6km down a river yesterday, partied at the “Smile Bar”on the river’s edge last night with a bunch of other backpackers.

Leaving for Vientiane (capital of Laos) today.

Will go into more detail at a later date when I have more time and of course there are photos coming. (I have 250 on my memory card currently!)

Hope everyone is well.

Mia

Pauline and Pascal

On October 10th Pauline and Pascal LeGoer had a gorgeous baby girl called Josie. Otherwise known as Crepouille or Choupinette. She was born 3.595 kg and 51 cm.

She’s just adorable!

Don’t worry, Dan. The cluckiness will wear off.

Gay Paree!

As Dad insists on calling it.

Paris was also short lived. Although I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to get out because of Train strikes. Turns out I just couldn’t get around.

Métro drivers were on strike. Astonishingly enough the trains were still more frequent than Connex services.

I came, I voted, I left. I suppose I did a bit of walking around in between. I didn’t do any serious sightseeing because I saw the big things last time. Although it’s quite difficult to avoid seeing the Eiffel Tower. Every taxi I took seemed to need to go past it. I think they do it on purpose if you ask me.

A love story…

I’m in love…

I’m in love with the town of Lyon. He is handsome, he treats me well, he’s not sleazy, he is a bit bourgeois. Unfortunately our affair was a short one.

I went to Lyon with the purpose of seeing Cat Empire in concert. Who would have thought I’d find the love of my life at the same time. I only had 2 days there as I wanted to get to Paris to vote at the Embassy, but it was great and I will be going back.

I spent some of my time trying to decipher the strange accent of a French-Canadian guy, called Vincent, who I met randomly in the street. It turned out our Hotels were right next to each other so we went sight-seeing together.

The food was fabulous, the sights were gorgeous and the wine wasn’t bad either!

The Cat Empire concert was really great. I decided not to take my camera so no photos of them but you all know what they look like anyway!  They only played 2 songs off the new album and weren’t even promoting it, which was a shame. I think it’s a wonderful album and cannot stop listening to it!

Conclusion: Lyon= Favourite city so far.
